ABOUT OUR COMPANY
The Oxford American magazine was founded in 1992 with an editorial mission to ''explore the American South.'' It has published original writing by many of this country's best writers including: Donna Tartt, Charles Portis, Barry Hannah, Roy Blount, Jr., and Susan Sontag, not to mention William Faulkner, Walker Percy, James Agee, and Zora Neale Hurston. Its annual Southern Music Issue, which comes with a CD, has been featured on NPR three years in a row and has won two ASMES for Best Single Topic Issue, most recently in 2004 (beating out Rolling Stone and National Geographic, among others). After a publishing hiatus that lasted almost a year, The Oxford American has returned with gusto--and secure funding--as a nonprofit quarterly in association with the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas (25 miles north of Little Rock). With creativity and zeal and hard work, the staff of THE OA will guide the magazine to new heights.
